Tools and Materials required for Single Process Permanent Color (for virgin hair):
Preparation:
Procedure:
Clean up:
- Comb
- Cotton
- Shampoo
- Towels
- Timer
- Conditioner
- Plastic clips
- Plastic cap
- Color chart
- Protective gloves
- Client record card
- Selected haircolor
- Protective cream
- Waterproof cape
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Applicator brush or bottle
- Selected permanent haircolor
- Nonmetallic bowl and applicator brush
Preparation:
- Perform a patch test.
- Client consultation.
- Ask client to remove and store jewelry.
- Drape client.
- Perform strand test. Record results.
Procedure:
- Part dry hair into four sections; ear to ear and from front center of forehead to center nape of neck.
- Put on gloves.
- Apply protective cream around your client’s hairline and ears.
- Prepare color formula for brush or bottle.
- Apply color beginning where color change will be the greatest or where hair is most resistant, usually along the hairline and temple areas.
- Take a ¼ subsection with the applicator and apply color mid strand. Stay ½ inch away from scalp and do not apply to porous ends. Repeat over entire head.
- Process according to strand test.
- Apply color to the hair at the scalp.
- Pull color through to the porous ends of the hair.
- Lightlyrinse with warm water. Massage color into a lather and rinse thoroughly.
- Remove stains around hairline with shampoo or stain remover.
- Shampoo and condition if needed.
- Towel dry a nd style the hair.
- Complete and file record card for future use.
Clean up:
- Discard disposable items.
- Close containers, wipe and store them.
- Sanitize cape, tools and workstation.
- Wash your hands with soap and water.
- Rinse plastic bottles, bowls, and brushes, disinfect according to state chemical disposal regulations.
